LIDIA

LIDIA is the acronym of Laboratorio de Investigación y Desarrollo en Inteligencia Artificial (Artificial Intelligence Lab), a research group inside theDepartment of Computer Science of the University of A Coruña (UDC), Spain. The members of LIDIA develop their teaching and research activities on theoretical and applied aspects of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning from 1990.

The specific research lines at LIDIA are:

  • Machine Learning algorithms.
  • Techniques for software usability and validation.

LIDIA development computer science solutions to complex problems in as diverse areas as:

Engineering:

  • Predictive maintenance for mechanical systems.
  • Control in Industrial processes.
  • Design in civil engineering.

Socioeconomics and Enviromental Science:

  • Predictive systems for forest fire assessment.
  • Management of extinction resources.
  • Support to the decision in the management and coordination of limited resources.

Health:

  • Aid to the decision for the prescription and customized supervision of physical activity.
  • Diagnosis and prognosis for antenatal care. Telemedicine from health centers.
  • Diagnosis, classification and monitoring of patients with sleep apnea syndrome.
  • Intelligent monitoring for patients in Intensive Care Units (ICU).

Computer Science:

  • Usability and validation of software.
  • Information security, especially in the development of techniques for intrusion detection in computer networks.
