IRLab

IRLab

IRLab is the acronym of Information Retrieval Lab, a research group inside the Department of Computer Science of the University of A Coruña (UDC), Spain. The members of IRLab develop their teaching and research activities on the development of new models and techniques to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of  information retrieval systems (web and mobile devices).

The specific research lines at IRLab are:

  • Information retrieval models for the web and mobile devices; crawling and indexing techniques.
  • Efficiency on storage systems and information processing.
  • Distributed information retrieval techniques and specific tasks such as web retrieval, multimedia retrieval, document classification and clustering, summary generation, ...
  • Developing Applications for mobile devices (IOS, Android, ....).
  • Reseach.

Based on this research the group has developed innovative tools and software products, which are being used by companies and government.

The group has been partner in various joint projects, networks and platforms with prestigious research groups, companies and institutions at regional, national and international levels. Group's research quality is reflected by many publications in reference conferences of the field such as ACM-SIGIR, ACM-CIKM, ACM-SAC, ECIR, SPIRE, etc. and on high-impact journals such as ACM-TOISA , Information Retrieval , JASIST , Information Systems, and so on.

Principal Researcher: Álvaro Barreiro García (ACM Senior Member)
